design-tokens
Generate, extend, or audit design tokens in DTCG format with the 3-tier architecture (primitive → semantic → component). Use when the user wants a color palette, type scale, spacing/shadow/radius/motion tokens, multi-brand theming, or wants to validate token files. Covers colors, typography, spacing, shadows, borders, breakpoints, motion, gradients, opacity, blur, sizing, states, theming.

Install
Works with every agent the skills CLI supports.
npx skills add https://github.com/plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills --skill design-tokens- 01
Install
Run the command in your project. The CLI asks which agents to install for.
- 02
Describe the task
Ask your agent for something this skill covers. It loads design-tokens automatically when relevant.
- 03
Review the result
The agent follows the SKILL.md steps, scripts and references bundled with the skill.
SKILL.md
The instructions your agent reads when the skill is triggered.
Skill: Design Tokens
Step 0: is the kit here? This skill reads files from the kit. Check once:
ls ${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../../tokens >/dev/null 2>&1 && echo KIT_OK || echo KIT_MISSINGOnKIT_MISSINGonly the skill folders were installed, which is whatnpx skills adddoes. Say so plainly, point the user atnpx ux-ui-agent-skills initor the plugin install, and stop. Do not guess the contents of a file you could not open.
Produce and maintain DTCG ($type/$value) tokens following the project's 3-tier system.
Steps
- Read
${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../../.claude/rules/tokens-and-color.md→ "Token System" + "Color Guidelines" and${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../../.claude/rules/typography-and-spacing.mdfor the rules (4px base, Major Third scale, OKLCH palette generation, dark-mode-at-semantic-layer). - Read the relevant existing files in
${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../../tokens/to match structure:colors.json,typography.json,spacing.json,shadows.json,borders.json,breakpoints.json,motion.json,gradients.json,opacity.json,blur.json,sizing.json,states.json,theming.json. - Generate/extend tokens:
- Primitives = raw values (never used directly). Semantic = purpose aliases. Component = component-scoped.
- New palettes: generate 11 OKLCH shades; verify 500 ≥ 4.5:1 on white (text), 600 ≥ 3:1 (UI) using the
a11y-auditskill /${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../../scripts/contrast.py. - Multi-brand/density →
theming.json.
- Validate: run
python3 ${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}/../../../scripts/validate_tokens.py(JSON validity + alias resolution).
Output
DTCG JSON. Preserve $description on every token. Reference, never hardcode.
FAQ
What does the design-tokens skill do?
Generate, extend, or audit design tokens in DTCG format with the 3-tier architecture (primitive → semantic → component). Use when the user wants a color palette, type scale, spacing/shadow/radius/motion tokens, multi-brand theming, or wants to validate token files. Covers colors, typography, spacing, shadows, borders, breakpoints, motion, gradients, opacity, blur, sizing, states, theming.
How do I install design-tokens?
Run npx skills add https://github.com/plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills --skill design-tokens in your project. The skills CLI detects the agents you use and copies the skill into the right folder. For Claude Code you can also place the skill folder at ~/.claude/skills/design-tokens/ (personal) or .claude/skills/design-tokens/ (project).
Which AI agents can use design-tokens?
Any agent that supports the open Agent Skills format (a folder with a SKILL.md file), including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cline, OpenCode and more.
Is design-tokens safe to install?
No partner security audit is available yet. Skills can run commands and scripts, so read the SKILL.md and any bundled files before installing.

image-to-code
plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills
Turn a reference image, screenshot, or mockup into token-driven, accessible code. Infer the design system from the reference (palette, type scale, spacing, radius, layout archetype), map it to the 3-tier tokens, rebuild it, then verify with the kit's gates. Use when the user provides a design/screenshot and wants matching UI code.
design-review
plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills
Review or audit a design/UI across 6 weighted dimensions with Nielsen's 10 heuristics and a prioritized findings table. Use when the user wants a design critique, quality score, heuristic evaluation, or audit of an existing screen, page, or product before/after build.
a11y-audit
plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills
Audit a UI or design against WCAG 2.2 AA/AAA and ARIA patterns, returning criterion-referenced findings with severity and specific fixes. Use when the user wants an accessibility check, contrast verification, keyboard/screen-reader review, or wants to confirm a component meets POUR.
redesign
plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills
Upgrade an existing website or app to premium quality without breaking functionality. Audit the current design, identify generic/AI tells, then apply taste and system rules surgically. Use when the user wants to improve, modernize, polish, or "make better" an existing UI/codebase.
apply-aesthetic
plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills
Apply a visual direction, an archetype (high-end agency, editorial minimal, brutalist, soft-SaaS, dark-tech) or one of 2,144 named design systems (apple, linear-app, stripe, vercel, notion, material, shadcn, spotify, tesla…), by resolving it into the token system. Use when the user wants a specific look/vibe/brand feel, or asks to make a design feel premium/expensive/non-generic.
design-code
plugin87/ux-ui-agent-skills
Generate production-ready, accessible, token-driven component code for ANY framework (React+Tailwind, Next.js, SwiftUI, Vue, Svelte, Angular, Solid, Web Components/Lit, React Native, Flutter, Jetpack Compose, vanilla CSS, or CSS-in-JS). Use when the user wants working UI code for a component or screen in a specific stack.

All animation knowledge for HyperFrames — atomic motion rules, multi-phase scene blueprints, scene transitions, broader motion-design techniques, AND the seven runtime adapters (GSAP default, plus Lottie, Three.js, Anime.js, CSS keyframes, Web Animations API, TypeGPU). Use for any motion or animation task: pick 2-4 rules and compose, or load a blueprint, or look up runtime-specific API (e.g. GSAP eases / Lottie player / Three.js mixer). Also covers auditing an existing composition's choreography (animation map) and 24 named text-animation effects. HyperFrames-native: single paused timeline, seek-safe, deterministic.
