Install
Works with every agent the skills CLI supports.
npx skills add https://github.com/julianobarbosa/claude-code-skills --skill managing-infra- 01
Install
Run the command in your project. The CLI asks which agents to install for.
- 02
Describe the task
Ask your agent for something this skill covers. It loads managing-infra automatically when relevant.
- 03
Review the result
The agent follows the SKILL.md steps, scripts and references bundled with the skill.
SKILL.md
The instructions your agent reads when the skill is triggered.
Infrastructure Patterns
When to Use What
| Tool | Use For |
|---|---|
| Raw K8s YAML | Simple deployments, one-off resources |
| Kustomize | Environment variations, overlays without templating |
| Helm | Complex apps, third-party charts, heavy templating |
| Terraform | Cloud resources, infrastructure lifecycle |
| GitHub Actions | CI/CD, automated testing, releases |
| Makefile | Build automation, self-documenting targets |
| Dockerfile | Container builds, multi-stage, multi-arch |
Quick Decisions
Kustomize when: Simple env differences, readable manifests, patching YAML Helm when: Complex templating, third-party charts, release management
K8s Security Defaults
Every workload: non-root user, read-only filesystem, no privilege escalation, dropped capabilities, network policies.
GitHub Actions Patterns
- CI workflow: Lint, test, compile on PRs (run on both x86 + ARM)
- Release workflow: Multi-arch Docker build on tags (native ARM runners)
- Pin actions by SHA, least-privilege permissions

Commands
kubectl apply -k ./ # Apply kustomize
helm upgrade --install NAME . # Install/upgrade chart
terraform plan && terraform apply
Gotchas
- Terraform state lock contention: default 10-min lock timeout; bumped timeout doesn't help if the lock holder hung — force-unlock only after confirming the process is dead.
- Helm release name reuse on uninstalled-but-not-purged release fails install with "already exists" — use
--no-hooks+ explicit purge, or never reuse names. - Kustomize patches that match nothing silently produce empty diffs — verify with
kustomize buildafter every patch addition. - Terraform
for_eachover a computed value forces apply-time count — can cause spurious re-creation of resources between plans. helm upgrade --installon a changed values schema can silently drop fields that no longer match — diff the rendered output, not just the values file.kubectl apply --server-sidevs client-side conflicts when both have been used: client-side last-applied-config can shadow server-side managed fields without error.
FAQ
What does the managing-infra skill do?
Infrastructure patterns for Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Kustomize, and GitHub Actions. Use when making K8s architectural decisions, choosing between Helm vs Kustomize, structuring Terraform modules, writing CI/CD workflows, or applying security best practices.
How do I install managing-infra?
Run npx skills add https://github.com/julianobarbosa/claude-code-skills --skill managing-infra in your project. The skills CLI detects the agents you use and copies the skill into the right folder. For Claude Code you can also place the skill folder at ~/.claude/skills/managing-infra/ (personal) or .claude/skills/managing-infra/ (project).
Which AI agents can use managing-infra?
Any agent that supports the open Agent Skills format (a folder with a SKILL.md file), including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cline, OpenCode and more.
Is managing-infra safe to install?
No partner security audit is available yet. Skills can run commands and scripts, so read the SKILL.md and any bundled files before installing.
Who maintains managing-infra?
It is published by julianobarbosa in julianobarbosa/claude-code-skills. It has 114 recorded installs.

argocd-advanced
julianobarbosa/claude-code-skills
Advanced ArgoCD operations beyond the core CLI/API — multi-cluster ApplicationSet generators, automated image updates, new-cluster bootstrapping, and workload onboarding via templated ApplicationSets. USE WHEN working with ApplicationSet CRDs (list, cluster, git, matrix, merge, SCM, pull request, plugin generators), configuring ArgoCD Image Updater (semver/digest/newest-build update strategies + git write-back), bootstrapping a new Kubernetes cluster into a multi-repo GitOps setup, registering clusters with proper labels for ApplicationSet targeting, onboarding a new workload via the standard ApplicationSet template, or troubleshooting any of these. For routine app sync/status/diff work use the core argocd skill instead.
