Install
Works with every agent the skills CLI supports.
npx skills add https://github.com/garrytan/gbrain --skill skill-creator- 01
Install
Run the command in your project. The CLI asks which agents to install for.
- 02
Describe the task
Ask your agent for something this skill covers. It loads skill-creator automatically when relevant.
- 03
Review the result
The agent follows the SKILL.md steps, scripts and references bundled with the skill.
SKILL.md
The instructions your agent reads when the skill is triggered.
Skill Creator
Contract
This skill guarantees:
- New skill follows conformance standard (frontmatter + required sections)
- MECE check: no overlap with existing skills' triggers
- Manifest.json updated
- RESOLVER.md updated with routing entry
- Skill passes conformance tests (
bun test test/skills-conformance.test.ts)
Phases
- Identify the gap. What capability is missing? What user intent has no skill?
- MECE check. Review
skills/manifest.jsonandskills/RESOLVER.md. Does any existing skill already cover this? If so, extend it instead of creating a new one. - Create SKILL.md. Use this template:
---
name: {skill-name}
version: 1.0.0
description: |
{One paragraph describing what the skill does and when to use it.}
triggers:
- "{trigger phrase 1}"
- "{trigger phrase 2}"
tools:
- {tool1}
- {tool2}
mutating: {true|false}

# {Skill Title}
## Contract
{What this skill guarantees — 3-5 bullet points}
## Phases
{Numbered workflow steps}
## Output Format
{What good output looks like}
## When it fails
Follow the [agent operator protocol](../conventions/agent-operator-protocol.md) for any gbrain error `code`, exit code, `[AGENT]` block or notice block. Specific to this skill:
{2-5 concrete failures this skill hits — error codes, refusals, notices — and what to do and tell the user}
## Anti-Patterns
{What NOT to do — 3-5 items}
## Tools Used
{GBrain operations used, with descriptions}
- Add to manifest. Update
skills/manifest.jsonwith name, path, description. - Add to resolver. Update
skills/RESOLVER.mdwith routing entry in the appropriate category. - Verify. Run
bun test test/skills-conformance.test.tsto confirm the new skill passes.
Output Format
New skills/{name}/SKILL.md file + updated manifest + updated resolver.
When it fails
Follow the agent operator protocol for any gbrain error code, exit code, [AGENT] block or notice block. Specific to this skill:
bun test test/skills-conformance.test.tsfails: the new SKILL.md lacks a required section (Contract, Anti-Patterns, Output Format, When it fails) or frontmatter; add it and re-run.gbrain check-resolvablereports the skill unreachable: add the RESOLVER row in a fitting category, then re-run.
Anti-Patterns
- Creating a skill that overlaps with an existing one (violates MECE)
- Skipping the MECE check against existing skills
- Creating a skill without triggers in frontmatter
- Not updating manifest.json and RESOLVER.md
- Creating a skill without an Anti-Patterns section
FAQ
What does the skill-creator skill do?
Create new skills following the GBrain conformance standard. Generates SKILL.md with frontmatter, Contract, Phases, Output Format, and Anti-Patterns. Checks MECE against existing skills. Updates manifest and resolver.
How do I install skill-creator?
Run npx skills add https://github.com/garrytan/gbrain --skill skill-creator in your project. The skills CLI detects the agents you use and copies the skill into the right folder. For Claude Code you can also place the skill folder at ~/.claude/skills/skill-creator/ (personal) or .claude/skills/skill-creator/ (project).
Which AI agents can use skill-creator?
Any agent that supports the open Agent Skills format (a folder with a SKILL.md file), including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cline, OpenCode and more.
Is skill-creator safe to install?
No partner security audit is available yet. Skills can run commands and scripts, so read the SKILL.md and any bundled files before installing.
Who maintains skill-creator?
It is published by garrytan in garrytan/gbrain. It has 234 recorded installs.

brain-ops
garrytan/gbrain
Brain knowledge base operations. The core read/write cycle: brain-first lookup, read-enrich-write loop, source attribution, ambient enrichment, back-linking. Read this before any brain interaction.
query
garrytan/gbrain
Answer questions using the brain's knowledge with 3-layer search, synthesis, and citation propagation. Use when the user asks a question, wants a lookup, or needs information from the brain.
maintain
garrytan/gbrain
Brain health checks: back-link enforcement, citation audit, filing validation, stale info detection, orphan pages, and benchmarks. Use when asked to check brain health, run maintenance, or audit quality.
idea-ingest
garrytan/gbrain
Ingest links, articles, tweets, and ideas into the brain. Fetch content, save to brain with analysis, credit the author (people page only when they pass the notability gate), and cross-link. Use when the user shares a link or says "read this", "save this", "think about this".
enrich
garrytan/gbrain
Enrich brain pages with tiered enrichment protocol. Creates and updates person/company pages with compiled truth, timeline, and cross-links. Use when a new entity is mentioned or an existing page needs updating.
meeting-ingestion
garrytan/gbrain
Ingest meeting transcripts from ANY meeting recorder into brain pages with attendee enrichment, entity propagation, and timeline merge. One unified pipeline: normalize the source into a standard transcript record, split multi-meeting recordings, resolve speakers by evidence, create the page, pass every surprising claim through the consistency check (transcript + brain + plausibility), enrich every entity, then run the verification checklist — substance AND sequence. A meeting is NOT fully ingested until the enrich skill has processed every entity AND the verification checklist passes, including the sequence verify (PASS or explicit user waive).
Popular ai & agents skills
google-agents-cli-publish
google/agents-cli
This skill should be used when the user wants to "publish an agent", "publish my ADK agent", "register an agent with Gemini", "publish to Gemini" (formerly Gemini Enterprise), or needs guidance on the agents-cli publish gemini command. Also use when the user wants to "manage agents in Agent Registry", "list/update/delete registered agents", or "register an MCP server". Covers ADK vs A2A registration modes, programmatic and interactive usage, flag reference, auto-detection from deployment metadata, Agent Registry fleet management, and troubleshooting. Part of the agents-cli skills suite. Do NOT use for deployment (use google-agents-cli-deploy).
google-agents-cli-eval
google/agents-cli
This skill should be used when the user wants to "run an evaluation", "evaluate my agent", "evaluate my ADK agent", "write an eval dataset", "analyze eval failures", "compare eval results", "optimize agent", or needs guidance on the Gemini platform eval methodology and the Quality Flywheel. Covers eval metrics, dataset schema, LLM-as-judge scoring, and common failure causes. Applies to any agents-cli project, whatever framework the agent is written in. Do NOT use for agent API code patterns (ADK: use google-agents-cli-adk-code), deployment (use google-agents-cli-deploy), or project scaffolding (use google-agents-cli-scaffold).
skill-creator
anthropics/skills
Create new skills, modify and improve existing skills, and measure skill performance. Use when users want to create a skill from scratch, edit, or optimize an existing skill, run evals to test a skill, benchmark skill performance with variance analysis, or optimize a skill's description for better triggering accuracy.
codex-pet
prime-skills/runcomfy-agent-skills
Codex Pet generator on RunComfy. Build a Codex-compatible Codex Pet spritesheet.webp + pet.json from a single reference image, drop it into ${CODEXHOME:-$HOME/.codex}/pets/ / and Codex picks it up as a custom Codex Pet next to the 8 built-ins. This skill produces the exact Codex Pet atlas Codex expects (1536x1872 PNG/WebP, 8 cols x 9 rows, 192x208 cells, 9 animation states — idle, running-right, running-left, waving, jumping, failed, waiting, running, review). Calls OpenAI GPT Image 2 edit ONCE via the local RunComfy CLI as runcomfy run openai/gpt-image-2/edit to produce a canonical Codex Pet pose, then assembles all 9 animation rows programmatically with ImageMagick micro-transforms — no Codex Pro, no $imagegen, no OPENAIAPIKEY required, only RUNCOMFYTOKEN. Triggers on "codex pet", "create codex pet", "make codex pet", "hatch codex pet", "/hatch image", "desktop pet codex", "codex pets", "spritesheet.webp", or any explicit ask to build a custom pet for OpenAI Codex.
full-output-enforcement
leonxlnx/taste-skill
Overrides default LLM truncation behavior. Enforces complete code generation, bans placeholder patterns, and handles token-limit splits cleanly. Apply to any task requiring exhaustive, unabridged output.
executing-plans
obra/superpowers
Use when executing an implementation plan in the current session as the implementer yourself — your human partner chose inline execution, or no subagent tool is available
