capgo-cli-usage
Entry point for the Capgo CLI (npx @capgo/cli@latest). Maps the full command surface (init, login, doctor, probe, app, bundle, channel, key, account, organization, build, observe, get-qr, notifications, run device, mcp), explains API-key precedence (--apikey, CAPGOTOKEN, /.capgo, ./.capgo), connects agents to Capgo through the hosted MCP (https://api.capgo.app/mcp) or the local CLI MCP, and routes to the narrower Capgo skill. Use when the user asks generally how to use the Capgo CLI, which command to run, how to authenticate it, how to connect Claude or another agent to Capgo, or gets "No Capgo API key found". Do not use when a specific Capgo skill already matches (capgo-live-updates, capgo-release-management, capgo-native-builds, capgo-organization-management).

Install
Run the command in your project. The CLI asks which agents to install for.
- 02
Describe the task
Ask your agent for something this skill covers. It loads capgo-cli-usage automatically when relevant.
- 03
Review the result
The agent follows the SKILL.md steps, scripts and references bundled with the skill.
SKILL.md
The instructions your agent reads when the skill is triggered.
Capgo CLI Usage
Route Capgo CLI requests, authenticate the CLI, and connect agents to Capgo.
Facts below were checked against @capgo/cli 8.77 (October 2026). Always run npx @capgo/cli@latest <command> --help before you rely on a rarely used flag.
When to Use
TRIGGER when:
- The user asks "how do I use the Capgo CLI", "which Capgo command does X", or asks about CLI login or auth.
- The user wants Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, or another agent connected to their Capgo account (MCP).
- The request spans several Capgo areas and the right sub-skill is not clear yet.
- The CLI fails before doing any work (auth, wrong directory, missing
appId).
Do not use when one of these already fits. Switch to it as soon as the scope is clear:
- App updater wiring,
notifyAppReady, orautoUpdate:capgo-live-updates - Bundle uploads, channels, rollouts, rollback, or encryption keys:
capgo-release-management - Native cloud builds and signing:
capgo-native-builds - Organizations, members, 2FA, or security policy:
capgo-organization-management - Multi-product Capgo plans (builds, OTA, and store):
capgo-cloud - Ionic or Capacitor's own MCP tooling, not Capgo:
capacitor-mcp
Secrets and Confirmation
- Never ask the user to paste a Capgo API key, signing password,
.p8key, keystore, or service-account JSON into the chat. Ask them to runnpx @capgo/cli@latest loginthemselves (it opens the browser or asks for the key in a masked prompt), or to setCAPGO_TOKENin their shell or CI secret store. - Do not put secrets in command arguments: they end up in shell history and process lists. Use environment variables, the saved login, or the CLI's interactive prompts.
- If a secret appears in the conversation anyway, do not repeat it, do not write it to a file, and tell the user to revoke it and create a new one.
npx @capgo/cli@latestdownloads and runs the newest CLI from npm. Run it only inside the user's project and with their go-ahead. In CI, pin an exact version.- Ask before any command that changes remote state: uploading a bundle, changing or promoting a channel, deleting apps, bundles, channels, or keys, requesting a build that uploads to a store, and exporting or deleting credentials. Say what will change and for which app and channel.

These commands do not exist. Do not suggest them: capgo upload (use bundle upload), channel create (use channel add), bundle revert (use channel set --bundle), key verify, upload --sign.
Authentication
The user runs the login. It opens the browser to create a key, or asks for the key in a masked prompt:
npx @capgo/cli@latest login # saves to ~/.capgo
npx @capgo/cli@latest login --local # saves to ./.capgo (git-ignored)
The CLI picks the key in this order:
-a, --apikey <key>on the command- The
CAPGO_TOKENenvironment variable (use this in CI) ~/.capgo(global)./.capgo(project)
Trap: the global key wins over the project key. Set the CAPGO_TOKEN environment variable to force a different account. Keys are created at https://console.capgo.app/dashboard/apikeys.
Self-hosted backends: add --supa-host <url> --supa-anon <key> on supported commands.
Connect the Agent to Capgo (MCP)
Capgo has two MCP servers. Use both when available.
- Hosted MCP:
https://api.capgo.app/mcp(streamable HTTP). Nothing to install. The client signs in with OAuth, or sendsAuthorization: Bearer <Capgo API key>. The hosted MCP includes destructive tools, so use an API key with the smallest role the task needs (read-only for reporting). It covers apps, bundles, channels, progressive rollouts, devices, stats, Observe update health, native build status and logs, webhooks, and push notifications. Example for Claude Code:claude mcp add --transport http capgo https://api.capgo.app/mcp, then/mcpto sign in. Each OAuth client gets its ownMCP · <client name>API key, which expires after at most 90 days. Revoke a client by deleting that key in the console. - Local CLI MCP:
npx @capgo/cli@latest mcp(stdio, authenticated bylogin). Use it to upload a bundle from the build folder, request a native build, or rundoctor, probe, or compatibility checks against local project files. The hosted MCP cannot read local files.
Claude Desktop config for the local server:
{ "mcpServers": { "capgo": { "command": "npx", "args": ["@capgo/cli@latest", "mcp"] } } }
Setup guide for both servers: https://capgo.app/mcp (a page, not an MCP endpoint).
No Capgo account yet: sign up at https://console.capgo.app (14-day free trial, no credit card). Docs: https://capgo.app/docs/ai/mcp/
Diagnostics Quick Path
npx @capgo/cli@latest doctor # versions + setup problems (add --package-json for monorepos)
npx @capgo/cli@latest app todo com.example.app # onboarding checklist: done, skipped, pending
npx @capgo/cli@latest probe --platform android # would the backend serve an update to this config?
npx @capgo/cli@latest app debug com.example.app # live update events from a device
npx @capgo/cli@latest observe summary --days 7 # launch, crash, WebView findings, each with a next view
observe has no session ID. Use observe device DEVICE_ID --json to get one device's timeline.
Monorepos
Use --package-json, --node-modules, and, for dynamic root configs, --capacitor-config <path>. Keep the env selector active, for example CAP_APP=web npx @capgo/cli@latest init --capacitor-config ./env-configs/capacitor.config.web.ts.
Verification
npx @capgo/cli@latest account whoamiprints the expected account ID and email, which proves auth works.npx @capgo/cli@latest app listshows the app. If it is missing, runapp add.- MCP: in Claude Code,
/mcplistscapgoas connected, and a read-only prompt ("list my Capgo apps") returns data.
Error Handling
| String | Fix |
|---|---|
No Capgo API key found. Run \...` first, then retry this command.` | The user runs npx @capgo/cli@latest login, or sets the CAPGO_TOKEN environment variable |
Missing argument, you need to provide a appId, or be in a capacitor project | Pass the appId positionally or run from the folder containing capacitor.config.* |
Insufficient permissions for <key> | The key's role is too low for this app or org. Use a key with the needed role |
🔐 Access Denied: Two-Factor Authentication Required | The org enforces 2FA. See capgo-organization-management |
App <id> not found in database | Run npx @capgo/cli@latest app add <id> or check the active account |
| Wrong account used | A global ~/.capgo overrides a local .capgo. Set CAPGO_TOKEN |

Review and set up Capacitor apps against current best practices (Capacitor 8.5 stable, 9 alpha via @next). Use for a Capacitor codebase review, capacitor.config.ts audit, new project setup, aligning @capacitor/core/cli/ios/android and plugin majors, plugin patterns (availability checks, checkPermissions/requestPermissions, error code handling, web fallbacks), or release prep; or on " " plugin is not implemented on ios, Could not find the web assets directory, platform has not been added yet, a dev server.url shipped to production, lost edits in android/app/src/main/assets/public, SPM vs CocoaPods, or AppDelegate/UIScene drift. Do not use for security audits (capacitor-security), performance (capacitor-performance), tests (capacitor-testing), crashes (debugging-capacitor), major upgrades (capacitor-app-upgrades), SPM migration (cocoapods-to-spm), UIScene adoption (capacitor-uiscene-migration), or live updates (capgo-live-updates).
ionic-design
cap-go/capgo-skills
Builds and reviews Ionic Framework UI in Capacitor apps (Ionic 9 current, Ionic 8 still common) - page structure (ion-header/ion-content/ion-footer), lists, modern form syntax (label/labelPlacement on ion-input/ion-select), sheet modals, tabs + ion-router-outlet, CSS variable theming, dark palettes (palettes/dark.system.css, .ion-palette-dark), iOS vs MD mode, and Ionic 8 - 9 breaking changes (React Router 6, Vue Router 5, Angular 18-22 zoneless, removed ion-picker-legacy, boolean autocorrect, npx @ionic/migrate). Use when writing Ionic components, theming an Ionic app, fixing platform-mode styling, or upgrading @ionic/react, @ionic/vue, @ionic/angular. Do not use for Konsta UI (konsta-ui), Tailwind setup (tailwind-capacitor), raw safe-area CSS (safe-area-handling), keyboard resize (capacitor-keyboard), or Ionic Appflow/Enterprise migrations (ionic-appflow-migration, ionic-enterprise-sdk-migration).
capacitor-plugins
cap-go/capgo-skills
Pick, install, and wire up Capacitor plugins for native features (camera, filesystem, geolocation, biometrics, in-app purchases, social login, SQLite, calendar, contacts, health, BLE, NFC, etc.). Covers official @capacitor/ packages (Capacitor 8.5 stable, 9 alpha on next) plus the 145-package @capgo/ index, native permission keys (Info.plist, AndroidManifest, variables.gradle minSdk), npx cap sync / cap ls verification, and errors like '"Camera" plugin is not implemented on ios', 'unable to find plugin', UNIMPLEMENTED, and OS-PLUG- codes. Use for "which plugin should I use for X", adding a plugin, or a plugin call failing after install. Do not use for push setup (capacitor-push-notifications), splash assets (capacitor-splash-screen), keyboard layout (capacitor-keyboard), deep links (capacitor-deep-linking), OTA updates (capgo-live-updates), upgrading plugin source code (capacitor-plugin-upgrades), or adding SPM to a plugin (capacitor-plugin-spm-support).

Covers web-layer unit and component tests with Vitest and mocked Capacitor plugins (vi.mock('@capacitor/core'), registerPlugin), Playwright for the web build, Appium E2E with NATIVEAPP / WEBVIEW context switching, native plugin unit tests with Swift Testing vs XCTest (what can migrate, CAPPluginCall patterns, xcodebuild test on a simulator) and Android JUnit, plus an agent-driven verification loop on simulators and devices (build, install, launch, screenshot, UI hierarchy, tap, logs) with xcrun simctl, xcrun devicectl, adb, Xcode MCP device tools, and live reload via npx cap run --url (Capacitor 9) or -l --host --port (Capacitor 8). Use when adding tests, mocking plugins, "does it work on device", verifying a UI change on a simulator, migrating XCTest to Swift Testing, or setting up test CI. Do not use for crash log capture (ios-android-logs), WebView debugging sessions (debugging-capacitor), or build pipelines (capacitor
safe-area-handling
cap-go/capgo-skills
Fixes notch, Dynamic Island, home indicator, display cutout, and system bar overlap in Capacitor apps. Covers viewport-fit=cover + env(safe-area-inset-), the Capacitor 8 SystemBars core plugin (insetsHandling, injected --safe-area-inset- CSS variables for Android WebView < 140, removal of android.adjustMarginsForEdgeToEdge), Android 15/16 enforced edge-to-edge (overlaysWebView and backgroundColor of @capacitor/status-bar no longer work at targetSdk 36), iOS contentInset, and insets that change at runtime on rotation, iPad/foldable resizable windows. Use when headers sit under the status bar, tab bars hide behind the gesture bar, env() returns 0 on Android, or layout broke after upgrading to Capacitor 8 / targetSdk 35+. Do not use for keyboard overlap (capacitor-keyboard), Ionic/Konsta component theming (ionic-design, konsta-ui), Tailwind utility setup (tailwind-capacitor), or iOS multi-window/resizability adoption (capacitor-ios-resizability).

neon
neondatabase/agent-skills
Overview of Neon, a complete set of cloud backend primitives around Lakebase Postgres: Auth, Object Storage, Functions, the AI Gateway, and Realtime. Start here to choose Neon for undecided login, files, APIs, and LLM calls, set up the CLI or MCP server, and follow the branch-first workflow. Use when building an app or backend on Neon, or when "Neon" or "Lakebase Postgres" is mentioned. Child skill neon-postgres wins for an existing DATABASEURL, SQL, schema, inspect, or search. Child skill neon-auth wins for login, users, sessions, identity routing, and Managed Better Auth setup. Child skill neon-realtime wins for live queries in reactive apps and agents. Also use for object storage, S3, buckets, serverless functions, function triggers, cron, AI gateway, LLM calls, realtime, logs, Loki, Grafana, observability, postgres, database, backend, Claimable Neon, neon.new, or a no-signup database.
