AWS Security Agent — Threat Model Review
Analyze spec documents (requirements.md, design.md) against the source code to identify security-posture changes using STRIDE methodology. No prior scan needed.
Local state
Read .security-agent/config.json for agent_space_id and region. If missing, run the setup-security-agent workflow inline first.
Resolving the values you need
| Placeholder | How to resolve |
|---|---|
<id> (agent space) | config.agent_space_id |
<region> | config.region (default us-east-1) |
<account> | aws sts get-caller-identity --query Account --output text |
<role-arn> | arn:aws:iam::<account>:role/SecurityAgentScanRole |
<bucket> | security-agent-scans-<account>-<region> |
Workflow
-
Pre-checks. Read config, verify agent space, resolve values.
-
Collect spec files. Identify the
requirements.mdand/ordesign.mdthe user is working on. Use absolute paths. Ask if unclear which files to review. -
Zip the workspace (same exclusions as code scan):
cd <absolute-workspace-path> zip -r /tmp/source.zip . \ -x ".git/*" -x ".security-agent/*" -x "node_modules/*" \ -x "__pycache__/*" -x ".venv/*" -x "venv/*" \ -x "dist/*" -x "build/*" -x "target/*" \ -x ".mypy_cache/*" -x ".pytest_cache/*" -x ".tox/*" \ -x ".next/*" -x "cdk.out/*" -x ".DS_Store" -x "*.pyc" -
Upload source zip:
SCAN_ID="tm-$(date +%s)-$(openssl rand -hex 3)" WORKSPACE_ID=$(printf '%s' "$(pwd)" | md5sum | cut -c1-12) aws s3 cp /tmp/source.zip s3://<bucket>/security-scans/source/${WORKSPACE_ID}/source.zip --expected-bucket-owner <account> -
Upload spec files:
aws s3 cp /path/to/requirements.md s3://<bucket>/security-scans/threat-models/${SCAN_ID}/specs/requirements.md --expected-bucket-owner <account> aws s3 cp /path/to/design.md s3://<bucket>/security-scans/threat-models/${SCAN_ID}/specs/design.md --expected-bucket-owner <account> -
Create threat model:
aws securityagent create-threat-model --agent-space-id <id> --title <title> \ --service-role <role-arn> \ --assets sourceCode=[{s3Location=s3://<bucket>/security-scans/source/${WORKSPACE_ID}/source.zip}] \ --scope-docs '[{"s3Location":"s3://<bucket>/security-scans/threat-models/'${SCAN_ID}'/specs/requirements.md"},{"s3Location":"s3://<bucket>/security-scans/threat-models/'${SCAN_ID}'/specs/design.md"}]'Capture
threatModelId. -
Start threat model job:
aws securityagent start-threat-model-job --agent-space-id <id> --threat-model-id <tm-id>Capture
threatJobId. -
Persist to
scans.jsonwithscan_type: "THREAT_MODEL". -
Tell user: "Threat model review started. Runtime varies with workspace size. I'll check every 2 minutes — say 'stop polling' to opt out."
-
Poll every 2 minutes:
aws securityagent batch-get-threat-model-jobs --agent-space-id <id> --threat-model-job-ids <tj-id>Only respond when status changes.
-
On COMPLETED → fetch threats:
aws securityagent list-threats --agent-space-id <id> --threat-job-id <tj-id>If
nextToken, paginate with--next-token.

Write full report to .security-agent/findings-{scan_id}.md. Call out any threat that represents a regression from the prior design.
Rules
- Threat model reviews are standalone — no prior scan needed
- Poll every 2 minutes, not faster
- At least one spec file is required
- Use absolute paths for workspace and spec files

More from aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws
aws-iam
aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws
Provides verified corrections for IAM behaviors that AI agents frequently get wrong — policy evaluation edge cases, trust policy gotchas, STS session limits, Organizations quirks, and SAML/MFA specifics. Also provides structured workflows for IAM role management and baseline policy generation from application source code or a Terraform plan JSON. Covers condition operator safety (ForAnyValue/ForAllValues with Null checks), bucket policy deny patterns (VPC endpoint restrictions, org paths), confused deputy protection, and service role creation for AWS services (Glue, CloudTrail, Lambda, ECS, etc.) with aws:SourceAccount/aws:SourceArn trust conditions. Applies when creating IAM roles, writing IAM or bucket policies, generating policies from application source code or a Terraform plan JSON, working with STS, Organizations, or condition operators, or any task needing a service or execution role. Does not cover non-IAM authorization like Cognito user-pool policies or app-level RBAC.
aws-serverless
aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws
Routes serverless requests to a compute form factor and the skill that owns it. Applies first to Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge, Step Functions and event-driven work while the compute, orchestration or integration choice is open — API backends, webhooks, jobs, cron, queue/stream consumers, durable workflows, event routing, Step Functions vs Durable Functions, and Pipes vs native event source mappings for queues and streams. Decides Event Functions on-demand vs Managed Instances, Web Functions, MicroVMs, EventBridge rules/Scheduler/Pipes/bus, HTTP vs REST API. Owns shared Lambda references (cold starts, SnapStart, concurrency, event sources, function URLs, throttling, troubleshooting). Defers to the specialized skill once a request commits to one form factor or service, or describes its defining feature, even unnamed (durable checkpointing and automatic step retries, Firecracker sandbox, managed instances, Node.js server). Not for EC2, ECS/EKS/Fargate or Amplify hosting.
aws-observability
aws/agent-toolkit-for-aws
Builds, configures, debugs, and optimizes AWS observability - operator-symptom questions and detecting Omni vs classic CloudWatch. CloudWatch on an already-reporting service: Log Insights, metric/composite/anomaly alarms, custom metrics/EMF, dashboards, X-Ray/ADOT tracing, canaries, CloudTrail, Dynamic Instrumentation (live breakpoints/snapshots), the Application Signals service map, and fleet health views. CloudWatch Omni on an existing Space: SQL over logs and traces, PromQL over metrics, Omni dashboards, Omni alerts, context graph for root cause, programmatic/IaC access (API/SDK/CLI/CloudFormation), driving Omni from a coding agent or skills, and evaluating AI agent quality from traces - on-demand and online scoring of live traffic, readback, custom evaluators. For first-time setup - creating an Omni Space, granting access, ingestion, or ADOT instrumentation for Application Signals (ServiceEvents, CI/CD metadata) or Omni - use setting-up-cloudwatch-observability. Not for app logging

seo-audit
coreyhaines31/marketingskills
When the user wants to audit, review, or diagnose SEO issues on their site. Also use when the user mentions "SEO audit," "technical SEO," "why am I not ranking," "SEO issues," "on-page SEO," "meta tags review," "SEO health check," "my traffic dropped," "lost rankings," "not showing up in Google," "site isn't ranking," "Google update hit me," "page speed," "core web vitals," "crawl errors," "indexing issues," "stuck on page 2," "striking distance keywords," "title tag rewrite," "low CTR," "local SEO," "Google Business Profile," or "map pack." Use this even if the user just says something vague like "my SEO is bad" or "help with SEO" — start with an audit. For building pages at scale to target keywords, see programmatic-seo. For adding structured data, see schema. For AI search optimization, see ai-seo.
firebase-security-rules-auditor
firebase/agent-skills
Audits Firebase (Firestore, Cloud Storage) security rules for vulnerabilities, privilege escalation, role bypasses, create vs update inconsistencies, resource exhaustion, type safety, size limits, and hasOnly ownership checks. Use when auditing/reviewing rules, running red-team rule assessments, or scoring against auditor checklists. competitors
coreyhaines31/marketingskills
When the user wants to create competitor comparison or alternative pages for SEO and buyer-facing use. Also use when the user mentions 'alternative page,' 'vs page,' 'competitor comparison,' 'comparison page,' '[Product] vs [Product],' '[Product] alternative,' 'competitive landing pages,' 'how do we compare to X,' 'competitor teardown,' 'audit our competitor pages,' 'are our comparison pages out of date,' or 'competitive asset audit.' Use this for any content that positions your product against competitors. Covers four formats: singular alternative, plural alternatives, you vs competitor, and competitor vs competitor. For auditing existing claims (not researching competitors from scratch, which is competitor-profiling; not technical SEO on these pages, which is seo-audit), use the asset audit here. For internal battle cards and sales-specific competitor docs, see sales-enablement.
