Install
Works with every agent the skills CLI supports.
npx skills add https://github.com/aws-samples/sample-strands-agent-with-agentcore --skill arxiv-search- 01
Install
Run the command in your project. The CLI asks which agents to install for.
- 02
Describe the task
Ask your agent for something this skill covers. It loads arxiv-search automatically when relevant.
- 03
Review the result
The agent follows the SKILL.md steps, scripts and references bundled with the skill.
SKILL.md
The instructions your agent reads when the skill is triggered.
ArXiv Paper Search
Available Tools
-
arxiv_search(query): Search scientific papers on ArXiv by keyword, author, or topic.
query(string, required): Search query for papers
-
arxiv_get_paper(paper_ids): Get detailed paper content (abstract, metadata, content preview) from ArXiv.
paper_ids(string, required): Comma-separated paper IDs (e.g., "2301.12345" or "2301.12345,2302.67890")
Usage Guidelines
- Use specific academic keywords for best search results (e.g., "transformer attention mechanism" rather than "AI").
- Paper IDs follow the format:
2301.12345orcs.AI/2301.12345. - When presenting results, include: title, authors, abstract summary, and ArXiv link.
- Use
arxiv_searchfirst to find relevant papers, thenarxiv_get_paperfor detailed content. - Pass multiple paper IDs at once as comma-separated values for efficiency.
Citation Format
When presenting information from papers, wrap every specific claim in <cite> tags:
<cite source="PAPER_TITLE" url="https://arxiv.org/abs/PAPER_ID">claim text</cite>
Rules:
- Cite findings, methods, statistics, and specific claims from papers.
- The
sourceattribute should contain the paper title. - The
urlattribute should contain the ArXiv URL (https://arxiv.org/abs/XXXX.XXXXX). - Do NOT cite your own reasoning or general knowledge.
- Use the minimum number of citations necessary to support claims.
FAQ
What does the arxiv-search skill do?
Search and retrieve scientific papers from ArXiv
How do I install arxiv-search?
Run npx skills add https://github.com/aws-samples/sample-strands-agent-with-agentcore --skill arxiv-search in your project. The skills CLI detects the agents you use and copies the skill into the right folder. For Claude Code you can also place the skill folder at ~/.claude/skills/arxiv-search/ (personal) or .claude/skills/arxiv-search/ (project).
Which AI agents can use arxiv-search?
Any agent that supports the open Agent Skills format (a folder with a SKILL.md file), including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, Windsurf, Cline, OpenCode and more.
Is arxiv-search safe to install?
No partner security audit is available yet. Skills can run commands and scripts, so read the SKILL.md and any bundled files before installing.
Who maintains arxiv-search?
It is published by aws-samples in aws-samples/sample-strands-agent-with-agentcore. It has 72 recorded installs.

paper-context-resolver
lllllllama/rigorpilot-skills
Rigor Paper Context helper for README-first deep learning repo reproduction. Use only when the README and repository files leave a narrow reproduction-critical gap and the task is to resolve a specific paper detail such as dataset split, preprocessing, evaluation protocol, checkpoint mapping, or runtime assumption from primary paper sources while recording conflicts. Do not use for general paper summary, repo scanning, environment setup, command execution, title-only paper lookup, or replacing README guidance by default.
