Fetch Slash Command Extension for Zed

Fetches a webpage using the fetch Model Context Protocol (MCP) server

This extension provides a Model Context Server for web content fetching, for use with the Zed AI assistant.

It adds a /fetch slash command to the Assistant Panel that lets you retrieve and view web content directly in Zed.

Installation

1. Install uvx: https://github.com/astral-sh/uv

2. Install the extension in Zed (this extension and its dependencies will be installed automatically by Zed)

Configuration

To customize the fetch server behavior, you can add configuration to your Zed settings.json:

Usage

In the Zed Assistant Panel, you can use the extension in two ways:

Slash Command

Type /fetch followed by a URL to fetch the page:

/fetch https://example.com

Notes

• The extension respects robots.txt by default, but this can be disabled in settings
• Web content is converted to Markdown for better readability in Zed
